Product Design and Engineering
With 26 years’ experience in the product design and engineering space, Camtech Precision Engineering have become engineering experts in the automotive, motorsport, aerospace, oil and gas, rail, medical and pharmaceutical industries. We push the boundaries of British engineering by providing a unique range of services at the forefront of production manufacturing.
The Camtech Product Design and Engineering Journey
From research and design to high-end manufacture and delivery, our highly-specialised and experienced technicians can manage every step of the product design and engineering journey, however complex the specification.
3D Design Services
Critical to the product development process is the 3D software design stage that involves considerable research, conceptualising, design, testing, problem solving, and communication in order to create 3D models aligned to our clients’ specifications. A team of experienced and qualified engineering designers use their expertise in advanced 3D modelling software and technology to map out a comprehensive 3D model of the product and generate toolpaths that drive machine tools that turn designs into products. The latest CAD (Computer Aided Design) and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) software offers a widespread working field for geometry creation as well as for the linkage of numerous simulation procedures, customer demands, and legislation tasks.
Engineering Advisory Services
Our professional and accomplished engineers are able to provide extremely valuable recommendations to improve functionality, reduce costs, increase production output and capacity to ensure that the product design and engineering process, as well as the end-product itself, is optimised for maximum success and benefit to the client.
Prototype Development
With a completed digital 3D model design, we undertake the prototyping process to create a physical representation of the final product for testing.
Two popular methods used for creating prototypes are rapid 3D printing and rapid Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining. In this pre-manufacturing stage, design verification and assessment are key to producing the highest quality final product. Rapid 3D printing is an additive manufacturing process of fast fabrication of a physical part, model or assembly, while CNC machining is a form of subtractive manufacturing where material is removed from the workpiece and reshaped to create the final product. Both processes are fast and efficient in creating high-fidelity prototypes that can be analysed, tested, refined, optimised and retested as many times as is required to create a perfect pre-manufacturing prototype.
Manufacture
The
final phase of the product design and engineering journey is the actual manufacturing of the final product. Modern integrated CNC machining equipment, which involves the use of advanced computer programming and sophisticated robotic technology, is used for high-precision tasks like drilling, boring, and cutting operations. Some examples of cutting, turning and milling machinery used for the manufacturing process include 5 axis vertical machines, 3 axis vertical machines, CNC lathes with live tooling, tub grinders and CNC CMMs. Our production areas and plant layout are designed for maximum efficiency and functionality to consistently deliver end products at the highest level and fastest speed.
